(Prensa Latina) The Syrian Minister of Electricity, Ghassan al-Zamel, said today that his country will benefit from 8% of the electricity transferred to Lebanon through his territory.
About 225 megawatts coming from Jordan will flow through the Syrian power line to Lebanon, expressed the Minister in statements quoted by al-Watan newspaper.
He added that Syrian technicians manage in record time to prepare the interconnection line and repair the damages caused by terrorists actions.
The amount from which Syria will benefit will contribute to the stabilization of the national power grid, he said.
The Minister commented that the ink of the agreement is an achievement and Syria has always been a pioneer when boosting cooperation among Arabs in all fields.
Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt signed an agreement for the tranfer of Egyptian gas and Jordanian electricity to Lebanon through Syrian territory, in order to save it from Caeser Act, which imposes sanctions to any organization that deals with the Syrian government.
