The poet Pedro Gil died in a traffic accident this Wednesday night. The writer died after being run over on an avenue in the city of Manta last Friday.
His body remained in the forensic center from that day until yesterday, when his family and friends recognized him and gave the news of his death. Due to the traffic accident, it was indicated that there is a person detained for the investigations of the case.
Pedro Gil was a workshop facilitator for the writer Miguel Donoso Pareja, and later he also taught creative writing courses. He published “Paren la guerra que yo no juego” (1988), “Delirium Tremens” (1993), “Con unas arrugas en la frente” (1997), “He llevado una vida feliz” (2001) y “17 puñaladas no son nada” (2010), among others.
In social networks, writers from all over Ecuador have expressed their dismay at the death of the poet, and have pointed out that his death is a great loss for national literature.
