Canadian company discovers new oil and gas block in Ecuador

The President of Ecuador, Guillermo Lasso, announced a new oil and gas discovery in the Perico block, in the province of Sucumbíos.

In the same way, the President recalled that there had been no new oil and gas discoveries in the country for more than six years and explained that this is exclusively due to “private investment”.

“This is responsible investment, committed to local employment, the environment and the country,” he added.

The Canadian company Frontera Energy was the one who announced the discovery of oil and gas in the Perico block.

With this new deposit of natural resources, it is estimated that oil production will increase by 925 barrels per day, according to initial calculations.

Lasso pointed out that thanks to this discovery it is possible to advance in “the goal of doubling oil production.”
