A group of citizens marched down Guayaquil Avenue, in the direction of the Historic Center of Quito, to reject the application of vaccines against the coronavirus, a disease that has left 34,189 people dead, between probable and confirmed, and 593,664 confirmed cases, since the pandemic began. until january13.
In the middle of the rain, with banners, shouts and, in some cases without masks, the protesters, who also oppose the sanitary measures, arrived at the Plaza de San Francisco, to express their disagreement with the Government’s obligation to vaccinate against the Covid-19.
Franklin Columba, one of the people who was in the mobilization, emphasized that “no government can force us to submit to an experimental vaccine.” He specified that they defend scientific research, but also support ancestral and alternative medicine.
“We are not saying that we are anti-vaccine, but what we need is that a real vaccine be guaranteed,” he clarified.
For his part, Guillermo Tamayo, spokesman for this group, argued that these drugs have adverse effects, which are not approved in the world.
He revealed that he has spoken with the president of the Health Commission of the National Assembly, Assemblyman Marcos Molina, and has proposed putting his professionals at the service of hospitals, to treat patients with coronavirus.
“I told her and I challenge the Minister of Health, give us the canton with the hospital that has the most covid and with our professionals in ten days they will be free of the disease,” he stressed.
As in the capital, groups in Cuenca and Guayaquil also mobilized for the same reasons. These groups also reject the measures implemented by the National COE and the authorities, since, they maintain, they are part of the so-called “health dictatorship.”
These people are part of the 13% of the population that has not yet received a single dose of vaccine against the virus, since, as explained by the Minister of Health, Ximena Garzón, at the moment there are 87% of people vaccinated at less with one dose; while 80% have already received their second dose.
