This Sunday, December 12, two Ecuadorian citizens, who had been kidnapped since December 9 on the northern border with Colombia, were rescued and released by police personnel from the National Anti-Kidnapping and Extortion Investigation Unit (Unase) and the Special Operations Group (GOE).
The operation left a detainee. This is Camilo Andrés A., 23 years old, who was responsible for guarding the detainees.
The troops of these Police units had support from the Colombian military intelligence.
The hostages were reportedly transferred to the trails that connect Tulcán and Ipiales, along the road that connects the populated center of the capital of Carche with the Rumichaca international bridge.
The authorities’ report informs that after the operation a firearm, a machete and four 22-caliber cartridges were seized.
