Comunes ratifies commitment to Peace Agreement in Colombia

Bogota, Dec 12 (Prensa Latina) The Comunes party, born out of the former Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People’s Army (FARC-EP), on Sunday ratified its unwavering willingness to move forward with the implementation of the Peace Agreement.

In a political declaration of the Plenary Session of the National Council of Comunes, it recalled that, five years ago, Colombia and the world witnessed a historic and decisive event for the present and future as a nation: the signing of the Final Agreement to End the Armed Conflict and Build a Stable and Lasting Peace.

It highlighted that this is, undoubtedly, a triumph for common people and all Colombian democratic, progressive and revolutionary sectors.

“The perspective of electing, in the election of 2022, a Congress and government that represent the desire for change and transformations of most people, shows us the importance of the active participation of all Colombians in the electoral process, supporting the candidacies that mean a true change,” it stated.

In this regard, Comunes on Sunday afternoon will present a national list to the Senate of the Republic and five lists to the House of Representatives in the constituencies of Bogota, Antioquia, Valle, Atlantico and Santander for public scrutiny. It hailed all the political and social forces that converge in the construction of the Historic Pact for peace, life and democracy.

“We recall the 292 signatories of the agreement that have been assassinated with impunity defending the hope of a homeland in peace and call for justice,” it stressed.
