Ecuador will receive more than two million vaccines between Astra Zeneca and Sinovac

For this Friday, August 13 and Saturday, August 14, the arrival of 2 million 101 thousand doses of vaccines against Covid-19 from AstraZeneca and Sinovac, respectively, is expected. This was announced by the Minister of Health, Ximena Garzón, this Wednesday, August 11.

The Secretary of State explained that a batch with 101,760 doses of AstraZeneca will arrive on Friday the 13th, as part of a donation from the Government of Spain; while on Saturday, August 14, a new shipment will arrive with 2 million vaccines from Sinovac.

Likewise, Garzón announced that for next week, according to the delivery schedule of the Chinese pharmaceutical company, the country will receive two million more from Sinovac.

“This will allow us to meet and exceed our goal of vaccinating 9 million people in 100 days,” she said.

Regarding the Chinese CanSino vaccine, the minister informed that this week the inoculation guidelines will be disseminated, for medical personnel, while next week it will begin with immunization, to people over 18 and under 60 years old, in rural areas with the support of the Armed Forces.

She also specified that during this month inoculation will be prioritized, only with second doses, so the application of the first doses of the coronavirus vaccines available in the country will be resumed after the end of the Vaccination Plan 9 / 100.

On the other hand, Garzón assured that according to the statistics of the Ministry of Health there is a decrease in the registration of deaths related to Covid-19.

She added that a decrease in the number of people hospitalized by the virus is also expected in the following weeks.
