The Ecuadorian President, Guillermo Lasso, arrived in Lima, Peru on the afternoon of July 27, 2021, to participate in the possession of his Peruvian counterpart, Pedro Castillo, from Peru Libre, who won the presidential elections.

Also traveling with him were Edison Conde, the President’s Chief of Security; José Bolívar Guerrero, aide-de-camp for Guillermo Lasso; and Bolívar Parra, official photographer of the President.
Lasso held his first bilateral meeting with the president-elect, Pedro Castillo. At the meeting, the leaders reiterated their commitment to work together for the well-being of the inhabitants of both countries. “Ecuador and Peru will strengthen their relations, always acting within a framework of cooperation,” says the Presidency.
Castillo will assume the Presidency, after obtaining 50.125% of the votes, compared to the 49.875% reached by Keiko Fujimori.
When the final results were announced, he congratulated him on the triumph he obtained. “We hope to strengthen relations between Ecuador and Peru with openness, cooperation and dialogue,” Lasso wrote on his Twitter account.
For the Castillo ceremony, King Felipe VI was also invited and arrived this Tuesday in the neighboring country, as well as the Vice President of Brazil, Hamilton Mourão, and other international delegates.
