Ecuadorian farmers start a new indefinite strike due to the lack of attention from the National Government

Small producers demand more attention from the National Government because the minimum price of a box of bananas is still not being respected and in recent months they have had considerable economic losses.

One of the banana leaders assured that her only objective is to dialogue with the President of the Republic, Guillermo Lasso, and that small producers be included in the dialogue tables that began a few weeks ago.

“The Government has not listened to us and that is why we have decided to go on strike. We have had no response. Our people can’t stand this situation anymore ”.

In the same way, another producer asked the President to fulfill his campaign promises and to attend to the orders of this sector.

Currently, each box of bananas weighing 41 to 46 pounds, without distinction, is marketed for less than a dollar, which they consider to be a blatant theft of this first link in the production chain.
