Court approved the withdrawal of Ecuadorian nationality to Julian Assange

The Contentious Administrative Court of Ecuador accepted the “injurious claim” filed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility of Ecuador and withdrew the Ecuadorian nationality of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.

According to the resolution of the magistrates, in the naturalization process of Assange, in 2017, there were a series of irregularities, for which the Ecuadorian justice “ratified the nullity of the resolution by which naturalization was granted in favor of Mr. Julian Paul Assange ».

Given this, the lawyer for the founder of WikiLeaks, Carlos Poveda, assured that he will appeal this resolution through the horizontal resources of “expansion and clarification” of the sentence, since he considers that he did not have a legitimate right to defense.

In the same way, he warned that Assange was not given the opportunity to defend himself, despite the fact that he could be summoned via telematics in coordination with the authorities.

«There may be a number of irregularities, but give him the right to defend himself; This is what we have asked for, ”said Poveda.
