(Prensa Latina) Dominican Prosecutor’s Office requested prison for the six involved in Odebrecht case, after presenting the conclusions of the process to the Court, as disclosed here today.
According to a press release from the Attorney General’s Office, acting prosecutors asked the judges of the First Collegiate Court of the National District to sentence businessman Ángel Rondón and former Minister of Public Works, Víctor Díaz, to 10 years in prison, plus the payment of 200 minimum wage.
Likewise, for Conrado Pittaluga, prosecutors requested seven years and five for former senator Tommy Gálan, former president of the Senate Andrés Bautista and for Roberto Rodríguez, former director of the National Institute of Potable Water and Sewers, in addition to payment of 200 minimum wages each .
In addition, within the conclusions, the group of prosecutors proposed that the hundreds of millionaire assets of the six defendants be confiscated in favor of the State, including apartments, bank accounts in dollars and pesos, investment certificates, bonds and other types of financial products.
Starting tomorrow, it will be up to the Defense of those involved to make their conclusions and requests discharges to the judges making up the court, and Rondón’s lawyers will be the first to use the stand.
Defense will conclude on September 16 and at that time judges will move on to deliberate to decide whether the defendants are innocent or guilty of the charges against them.
The company reached an agreement with the Attorney General’s Office by which it will have to pay this country 184 million dollars through a number of installments, the double of amount delivered in bribes.
