Guatemala wins Platino film award nominations

(Prensa Latina) Madrid is celebrating three decades of Ibero-American rendezvous, with cinema as the star, after nominations for the Platino Awards, especially for the motion picture La Llorona, from Guatemala.

A ceremony with airs of grandeur in the Music Box of the City Council of this capital, some famous faces of celluloid, and even the premiere of the Ibero-American Anthem, was devoted to cinema.

Although there is still time ahead for the first week of October, when the winners will be announced, the powerful footprint of the Guatemalan film La Llorona stood out, in a tough fight with El Olvido que Seremos, by no other than Fernando Trueba.

Presenting the nominations for the 8th edition of the Ibero-American Platino Film and Audiovisual Awards were Chilean Paulina García (Silver Bear winner at the Berlin Festival and Platino Award in 2014 for Gloria), and Spanish actress Belen Rueda.

La Llorona, by Jayro Bustamante, does not climb positions by pure chance either. It already comes with nominations for the Golden Globes and the Goya awards as Best Foreign Film or Ibero-American, respectively.
