After the confirmation of the Delta variant of Covid-19 in El Oro and Guayas, the Medical Associations of Pichincha and Guayas requested that the national authorities take immediate measures.
The Guayas Medical College asked to apply measures in all provinces such as mobility restriction, dry law, curfew and mandatory quarantine for all flights arriving in the country.
It is expected that this Tuesday the National COE will announce the new resolutions that, according to its president Juan Zapata, will be focused on these two provinces where the circulation of this variant was detected in 10 people.
For its part, according to the Pichincha College of Physicians, the variants that have already been confirmed in Ecuador must have been around for 20 or 30 days due to the time that the analyzes have taken and the period of time the symptoms appear.
Therefore, it is determined that the Delta variant has been circulating in the country for a month, before its confirmation with the analyzes of the infected people.
The union asked to increase border controls and expressed its concern about the relaxation of the population, with respect to the measures established by the authorities.
