Ecuador will receive fewer doses of Chinese CanSino vaccine, confirms Minister of Health

In a dialogue with the media, the Minister of Health, Ximena Garzón, confirmed that Ecuador will receive fewer doses of the CanSino Coronavirus vaccine, out of the six million negotiated formulas.

The official explained that this inconvenience with the arrival of the Chinese vaccine is due to problems in the production plant in that country, so the number of doses that will reach Ecuador will be less.

The minister did not specify when this shipment will arrive, however, according to President Guillermo Lasso, the CanSino vaccines would arrive in July.

In addition, Garzón announced that seven million more vaccines have been contracted from Sinovac, which will arrive between July and August.

She added that from today until Saturday July 3, the country will receive 2,108,810 doses of vaccines between Pfizer and Sinovac.

On the other hand, the Secretary of State reported that as of Monday, July 5, the age range will be expanded; that is to say, during the following week people from 55 to 49 years old will be vaccinated, according to the days of the week.

While from Monday, July 12, Phase 3 of the Vaccination Plan will begin, which aims to reduce community transmission, in which it will be immunized daily by age groups from 48 years and companies or organizations that contribute with places , vaccination brigades and supplies.

“Trades are being sent to the productive sectors to coordinate the massive vaccination against Covid-19, for which, companies must have a list of their personnel and ensure a place with the necessary conditions to apply the doses,” she indicated.
