Reducing junk food to avoid neurological diseases is recommended

(Prensa Latina) So-called junk food is considered a danger to the brain, hence experts strongly recommend to reduce or exclude it from daily diet to avert neurological diseases, the sputniknews.com website reported.

Specialists said it is critical not to consume sweets and soft drinks, since their high sugar content damages the enzyme involved in the inflammatory response in early stages of Alzheimer’s disease, the website commented, while referring to a study rolled out at the UK University of Bath.

Alzheimer’s is a sort of dementia that causes memory, thinking, and behavior issues. Its symptoms generally crops up slowly and get worse over time.

Alzheimer’s disease is responsible for 60 to 80% of dementia cases.

Diabetic patients have been shown to have a higher risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease compared to able-bodied people.

Another study published on The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition confirmed that processed meat consumption is a potential risk for dementia.

On the other hand, scientists at the University of South Australia detected that spices or spicy foods can also be too dangerous, by contributing to accelerated cognitive decline in people who excessively consumed spicy foods in their diet.

French fries, burgers, among other junk foods ‘can cause type-2 diabetes, a significant decreased brain function and even brain shrinkage,’ the source warned.
