The minister explained that, from week 15, the cases of Covid-19 begin to decrease. In the current week, the 23rd, 3,578 cases were reported, representing a decrease of almost 3,000 cases, compared to the previous week.
The incidence rate has been reduced to 52.6 cases per 10,000 inhabitants. On positivity, there is also a 19.6% reduction this week.
In addition, she said that there is a decrease in deaths, as well as excess mortality reported by the Civil Registry.
However, there is still a serious situation regarding hospital occupation. All Intensive Care Units (ICU) have a 100% occupancy nationwide. The waiting list goes up to 100 people.
Meanwhile, vaccination is progressing and there are
4 ′ 811,000 doses applied so far. In the government of Guillermo Lasso alone, more than 1.1 million people have been vaccinated.
Given the questions about the lack of doses in some vaccination centers, the minister confirmed that they do have the necessary stock to apply the second dose.
