(Prensa Latina) Former Bolivian President Evo Morales on Tuesday called to respect the official results of the presidential runoff in Peru, which show Candidate Pedro Castillo as a possible winner against Keiko Fujimori.
‘The same discourse of the racist, fascist and coup right: it denounces ‘fraud’ without evidence and violates the democracy it supposedly defends,’ the leader of the Movement Toward Socialism warned on Twitter.
Donald Trump, in the United States; Carlos Mesa, in Bolivia; and Fujimori, in Peru, repeat the same lie and do not accept the people’s vote, warned the former president (2006-2019), who was ousted from office by a coup d’état that used the irregularities of the election, without proving them, to seize power.
A report from the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) shows, with a total of 96.795 percent of the ballots counted so far, rural teacher Castillo as the front-runner of the runoff with 50.254 percent of votes in favor, compared to 49.746 percent for the neoliberal candidate.
Fujimori, despite claims that she would not make a statement until the final count was announced, said at a press conference on Monday that ‘there is a clear intention to boycott the will of the people.’
