In Ecuador, older adults make long lines to get vaccinated

On the morning of this Thursday, May 27, long lines were again registered in the vaccination of the second dose against COVID-19 to the elderly.

Under the strong sun, in Quito, elderly people expressed their annoyance at the disorganization for their second vaccination. At various points, they criticized the lack of information. Some even had to go from one inoculation center to another.

The discomfort began yesterday, when the vaccination plan was resumed.

At the hospital for the care of the elderly people over 70 years of age came to receive their Sinovac vaccine, but they were told that they only applied Pfizer there.

Also, there were people who received. The first dose in another center and they also arrived at this hospital, after waiting in a long line, the medical staff told them that they could not vaccinate people from other centers.

Today, the situation was very similar. From 05:00, hundreds of people began to line up in the vicinity of the Central University Coliseum.

MSP officials explained that only those who were scheduled for May 27 will be inoculated. But most had their appointment for May 24 or 25, days that were not inoculated due to the archiving of the vaccines for the knowledge of the new authorities.

Manuel González, 75, who was inoculated for the first time at the Quito Exhibition Center has not received the notification to supplement the vaccine. “I had the first dose 29 days ago and no one has contacted me. I call 171 and they tell me they are going to notify, but so far they have not done so, “Manuel told El Comercio.

The Minister of Health, Ximena Garzón, announced that the second dose will be applied until May 30 and as of May 31, the new vaccination plan of the Guillermo Lasso government begins.
