(Prensa Latina) Former Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva confirmed that he will run in the 2022 elections if he is the favorite to win, according to an exclusive interview with the French magazine Paris Match published today.
Quoted in full by the news portal Brasil 247, in the interview the former president said that he would participate ‘if I am the best placed to win the presidential elections and I am in good health’.
In this regard, he assured that even vaccinated against Covid-19, ‘I continue to take care of myself. I avoid crowds, I still wear a mask and use alcohol gel whenever necessary. You can see that I love myself the most’.
I will be a candidate against President Jair Bolsonaro, the founder of the Workers’ Party confirmed.
He considered that he was a good president and ‘I weaved solid ties with Europe, South America, Africa, the United States, China, Russia. During my term, Brazil became a major global player on the world scenario,’ he said.
This, he explained, in order to ‘build bridges between South America, Africa and the Arab countries, with the aim of establishing and strengthening a South-South relationship and demonstrating that the geopolitical predominance of the North was not inexorable’.
In March, the former steel union leader recovered his political rights when the Federal Supreme Court overturned four trials against him in courts in the southern city of Curitiba due to a conflict of jurisdiction.
