The president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, confirmed that on May 24 he will attend the inauguration ceremony of Guillermo Lasso.
Bolsonaro will travel to Ecuador on May 23, after he participates in a motorcyclist caravan in Rio de Janeiro, scheduled with his followers.
The far-right leader has only traveled outside the country on two occasions, after the first case of coronavirus in the country was reported on February 26, 2020.
The first trip was in March 2020 to the United States, where he met with then-President Donald Trump. The second, on the other hand, was for the possession of the new Uruguayan president, Luis Lacalle Pou.
This trip is the second that Bolsonaro will make to attend a presidential inauguration in Latin America, since since he assumed as head of state, on January 1, 2019, he refused to participate in the inauguration of the new leaders of Argentina, Alberto Fernández , and from Bolivia, Luis Arce, both from left movements.
