(Prensa Latina) The Cuban Movement for Peace and Sovereignty of the Peoples (MovPaz) called to end the official repression against citizen’s protests in Colombia, according to a communique released on Wednesday.
MovPaz noted that the abuses, kidnappings, murders, lynchings and any other kinds of xenophobic and discriminatory crimes and attitudes against the noble Colombian people must cease, the statement noted.
The report took into account the popular demonstrations against the unpopular Tax Reform Bill that President Ivan Duque was forced to withdraw.
We have seen, with deep regret, during the last few days, that an increasing number of Colombian brothers have died, as a result of the police brutality with which the unstoppable claim in that nation, in order to achieve a fairer society, is repressed, the text stated.
The current situation in Colombia is marked by the escalation of violence, economic crisis, assassinations of social and union leaders and the Covid-19 pandemic, aggravated by the ‘disastrous handling’ by the government structures, the document added.
