On the morning of this Wednesday, April 28, the murder, in the style of hitmen, of the lawyer Harrison Salcedo in the north of Quito was reported. Minutes later, there was a mutiny and shooting at the Guayaquil Penitentiary.
Salcedo was a lawyer for alias “Rasquiña” and former vice president Jorge Glas, in addition, he defended former legislator Eliseo Azuero.
According to unofficial versions, the mutiny occurred after the murder of Harrison Salcedo became known.
The Minister of Government, Gabriel Martínez, by means of a tweet, confirmed the disturbances in the penitentiary center and indicated that the National Police entered to control the situation.
Attorney Héctor Gabriel Vanegas reported what happened and indicated that he witnessed the events, since he was in a hearing at the time of the shooting.
“In the middle of the hearing my defendant had to crouch – live – because they began to hear shots. What is happening?”
