Brazil faces difficulties to provide second Covid-19 vaccine doses

(Prensa Latina) Brazilian Health Minister Marcelo Queiroga admitted on Monday that his country has problems in supplying the second CoronaVac doses, a Chinese Covid-19 vaccine produced by the Butantan Institute.

In a virtual meeting with senators who were deeply concerned about the vaccine’s delay, Quiroga accepted that the delay really affects the administration of the second dose to people.

Quiroga pointed out that many municipalities ended up reaching the second immunization date without having the Butantan vaccines available.

‘CoronaVac, the second dose, has caused some concern. If you remember, the second doses were released to be applied about a month ago and, now, in view of the delay of vaccines coming from China to Butantan, there are difficulties with the second dose,’ he noted.
