“I am an authority 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”

Government Minister Maria Paula Romo submitted evidence within the impeachment process that is being held against her for alleged breach of duties. The Minister justified the use of a police aircraft saying it is regulated.

Romo said that although a Government Minister is the main authority of the Police, it is necessary to differentiate between civil authority and the police command.

“It is not for me to assume the operational command of the Police. My responsibilities are related to the generation of public policies and coordination with other Government instances. My responsibility is the political and legal representation of the Police,” she said.

Romo said the assets have been used according to their mission and following the procedures. “I am an authority 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The use of airplanes is regulated,” she said.
