4,764 people have already been immunized, with the two doses of the coronavirus vaccine, in the province of Galapagos, according to the records of the Ministry of Health.
However, in a news interview, the President of the Galápagos Governing Council, Normal Wray, confirmed that, so far, there are 5,414 people who have been inoculated with both doses.
According to the Plan Vacunarse platform, until this Monday, April 19, in the archipelago there are 5,844 people vaccinated with the first dose and 4,764 people who have received the second dose.
The authority pointed out that during phase zero and one of the vaccination process, in the archipelago 25% of the citizens have been vaccinated.
He ratified the announcement of the vice president, María Alejandra Muñoz, about the agreement with Pfizer, to advance 40 thousand doses of its vaccine, which will be destined to this province, to vaccinate the population over 18 years of age and thus, according to the authorities, immunize 100% of the inhabitants.
The authorities announced that this new shipment will inoculate about 20 thousand people, 18 years of age and older.
Wray explained that since the last week of April, microvaccination has been applied in Galapagos and they hope that by the end of May 2021, all citizens of the province will be vaccinated.
“We will continue to prioritize by age range,” she concluded.
On the other hand, according to a report circulating on social networks, the first case of coronavirus would have been detected on Floreana Island. In the document, which has the signatures of four officials, including doctors, assistants and administrators, the authorities call for calm to the population of this island.
Until this Monday, April 19, according to the report of coronavirus cases from the Ministry of Health, Galapagos has 1,375 positive cases of Covid-19.
