This morning the elected President, Guillermo Lasso, entered the Carondelet Palace to begin the transition process with the outgoing president Lenín Moreno.
Hand in hand with his wife, María de Lourdes Alcívar, together with his elected vice president, Alfredo Borrero, they made the formal greeting with the outgoing Lenín Moreno, his wife Rocío González; and Vice President María Alejandra Muñoz.
After the official photo, in which Guillermo Lasso and Lenín Moreno shook hands, at this time in a closed-door meeting to discuss the issues that are pending and what is urgent for the government for the next four years.
Earlier, in a brief statement to the press, Lenín Moreno said that a transparent and technical job has been done to deliver the necessary information to the new government. In addition, he reiterated that the table is not served. “It is a difficult situation, but we know that he will be able to move forward,” said Moreno
Guillermo Lasso, on his part, emphasized that one of his priority issues that he will talk with Moreno will be the Vaccination Plan.
Starting this Monday, Guillermo Lasso’s transition team, made up of Iván Correa Calderón and Juan Carlos Holguín, will receive the information from Moreno’s team, made up of the Cabinet Secretary, Jorge Wated, and the Minister of Labor, Andrés Isch.
The information collected was placed on a platform, in a joint effort with UNDP. In this transition process, 250 public officials collected information for the President to continue or not the projects started.
There are 131 priority initiatives that the Government suggests continuing, as well as 65 regulations under construction, which include draft laws, Executive Decrees, Regulations, ministerial agreements, 465 contracts, 188 systems and databases that allow the Executive to continue with its operations.
