Guillermo Lasso will travel to Colombia to reach security commitments

The elected President of Ecuador, Guillermo Lasso, announced that in the next few days he will travel to Bogotá, Colombia, to meet with the Colombian president, Iván Dique.

“This first meeting aims to strengthen relations between Colombia and Ecuador through a firm commitment to the safety of our inhabitants,” Lasso reported on his Twitter account, this Monday, April 19, 2021.

The announcement was made after he held a meeting, in the morning, with the outgoing President Lenín Moreno and his team to begin with the transition of Government.

So far, Lasso has not yet released the names of his ministers. Those who lead his transition team are Iván Correa Calderón and Juan Carlos Holguín.

His wife, María de Lourdes Alcívar, and a retinue will accompany Guillermo Lasso on his journey. The meeting is scheduled to take place this Tuesday, April 20.

On April 11, Iván Duque congratulated Lasso and commented that they spoke by phone to work together. “We will continue to strengthen our commercial relations, security and Andean integration for the benefit of our countries,” he said.
