Radical quarantine extended in Venezuela

(Prensa Latina) President Nicolas Maduro decreed to extend as of Monday one more week of radical quarantine due to a rise in Covid-19 cases.

Maduro pointed out that this measure is a recommendation of the Presidential Commission for the Prevention and Control of Covid-19 to curb the spread of these variants, whose contagion is faster and more lethal.

The head of States ordered compliance with prevention and control measures, and instructed to increase hospitalization capacities in the public and private health system and in health hotels in regions where there is growth of new cases.

He also indicated to reinforce border controls with Colombia, in order to curb the spread of the disease.

Maduro explained that Venezuela has 40 active cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The country recorded 1,779 contagions in the last 24 hours, totaling 13,172 cases.
