Guayaquil registers a high average of daily deaths from Covid-19 in March. The city registered 15 daily deaths from coronavirus last week, while this Monday, March 29, 2021, 25 people died.
In addition, 50 seriously ill patients are waiting for a space in the Intensive Care Units (ICU) in the Guayaquil hospitals. In the city there is community circulation of the United Kingdom and New York strain.
Fernando Espinoza, director of the research unit at the Universidad de Especialidades Espíritu Santo (UEES), confirmed that patients infected with the British strain are the most likely to die.
The average daily deaths in March reached 72, this figure is higher than the data for months such as May (61), June (46), July (49), August (51), September (47), October (52) , November (53) and December (50) of 2020; and January (64) and February (67) of 2021.
Guayaquil reported 28.377 positive cases of Covid-19 and in the province there are a total of 42.514 infections until this Wednesday, March 31, 2021
