First dose of the vaccine was administered to one hundred thousand people in Ecuador

One hundred thousand people have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Ecuador, until March 12, according to the figures presented by the Ministry of Health, on its website.

The second dose should be administered 21 days later, according to the manufacturer’s laboratory recommendations.

Citizens over 65 years of age, who have not yet been vaccinated, will be able to register at planvacunarse.ec, starting on Monday, March 15. The other citizens who are part of phase 1, but who are not of legal age, do not have to register, because they will be called according to the databases provided, the MSP clarified.

Until March 30, 100% of the health personnel of the health establishments of the public and private network of the country will be vaccinated, is the commitment of the Secretary of State.

The head of Health, Rodolfo Farfán, pointed out that phase 1 of vaccination, which includes two million people, will end on April 30, in the provinces of Pichincha, Guayas and Azuay. Across the country, until May 20.

Lenín Moreno was present at the beginning of phase 1 of vaccination in Galapagos, where it was planned that until yesterday the application of the first dose to the target personnel would be completed.

Phase 1 includes all the remaining health personnel (who were not in phase zero), older adults, vulnerable population, teachers at all levels, members of the public force and firefighters, waste collection personnel and personnel from strategic sectors.

Lifeguards from the Ecuadorian Red Cross, Civil Defense, municipal control agents, officials of the Integrated Security Service ECU911, brigade members of the National Risk Service, staff of funeral homes, crematoriums and cemeteries and high exposure security personnel, belong to the sectors strategic.
