President of Ecuador appoints his personal friend, Manuel Mejía Dalmau, as the new Chancellor

The President of the Republic, Lenín Moreno, issued Executive Decree 1270 to designate Manuel Mejía Dalmau, former ambassador of Germany, as the new Chancellor of the Republic. He is the fourth Minister of Foreign Affairs, after accepting the resignation of Luis Gallegos. María Fernanda Espinosa and José Valencia also attended that position.

Mejía Dalmau represented the Embassy of Ecuador in Germany since November 21, 2017. During this period, the official also represented the country before the governments of Estonia, Lithuania and the Czech Republic.

His resume includes his passage for eight years as Systems Manager of Banco Popular del Ecuador in Quito, for eight years, Director and President of the Fundación de Justicia CLD in Quito, then he was regional vice president of Banco de Pichincha in Guayaquil during two years, before being founder and president of the MYL Corporation from 1976 to date.

The new chancellor is from Quito, he is 70 years old and has dual nationality: Ecuadorian and Spanish. In addition, he is a youthful friend of President Lenín Moreno, with whom he played tennis. Mejía Dalmau completed her university studies in Germany.
