Next Friday, March 26, at 1:00 p.m., the wife of the president of Ecuador, Rocío González de Moreno, will have to render her version as part of the investigation opened for possible influence peddling in the distribution of vaccines against Covid-19.
The Prosecutor’s Office summoned her to go with her lawyer and, like her, the ministers Mauricio Pozo de Finanzas; René Ortiz, from Energy; Rosa Prado, of Tourism; and Julio Recalde, from Housing. All of them were immunized.
Rocío González de Moreno would have been immunized in the second group with the Pfizer vaccine and, together with her, officials from the circle close to her husband.
Meanwhile, this morning, Rodrigo Paz, the sports leader and former mayor of Quito, gave the voluntary version of it by videoconference. Then they had to do it María del Alma Cruz and Salomo Doumet, who were vaccinated at the Teodoro Maldonado Carbo Hospital in Guayaquil, as well as the chef, Diego Balmaceda.
In the afternoon, the administrative officials of the Carlos Andrade Marín Hospital of the IESS, in Quito, were scheduled to do so, who received the vaccine last January, as soon as the first batch arrived.
The lawyer for the former Minister of Health, Juan Carlos Zevallos, who is one of the people questioned by the vaccination plan, is on the lookout for each of these proceedings.
As the case is in the preliminary investigation stage, everything presented by the appearing parties is kept confidential. But all the information compiled by the Prosecutor’s Office, between documents and statements, leads her to summon more people to render her version of how the doses were distributed.
