Until January, the 19 rooms of the Guayaquil Charity Board reported 10 deaths a day; however, this figure has risen since March.
In Guayaquil the number of graves increased in recent weeks, the number of deaths in the city went from 10 to 26, in a single day.
The increase in these deaths, according to the authorities, is related to increases in coronavirus infections in the city. Guayaquil hospitals also report their maximum capacity.
The 19 meeting rooms of the Junta de Beneficencia, located in downtown Guayaquil, were also full. In January there were up to 10 deaths a day; however, since March this figure has risen.
The same situation in the vigil rooms in downtown Guayaquil is repeated in the 4 cemeteries of Parques de la Paz, which in February registered 240 graves and so far in March there have been 259.
In Jardines de Esperanza the same reality is lived, here, the highest peak was recorded yesterday, with 26 graves, a figure that exceeded the 21 daily burials reported between January and February.
From the viewing rooms of Guayaquil they do not rule out that these figures will continue to increase during the coming weeks, before the Easter holiday and also the second electoral round.
