In Ecuador the use of migrants in the dirty campaign for the presidential elections is rejected

The posters displayed in the streets with descriptions that indicate “vote well”, which are carried by migrants, including citizens who would be of Venezuelan nationality, have generated rejection and criticism in Ecuadorian society.

Twelve days before the elections, several migrants carry cardboard signs with texts such as: «Ecuadorian open your eyes, this is what you want for your family. I tell you: vote well ».

This fact generated criticism and rejection in social networks, on the part of users who expressed their displeasure at using citizens on the street to support a political position.

The journalist Fabricio Vela, for example, expressed: «Of the dirty campaigns, this has become the worst!».

In the same way, the lawyer and political analyst, Mauro Andino Espinoza, rejected this act and said: «There is no basic, nor social security. Then they are fired and now they are perversely used to carry posters trying to promote fear and fright ».

According to Internet users, the Venezuelan migrants would have received money from the campaign of the candidate for CREO-PSC, Guillermo Lasso and his binomial Alfredo Borrero, to spread these messages to the citizens, in the streets of the country.

This is evidenced in a video that circulates on social networks, in which a Venezuelan citizen appears and explains that the “people of Guillermo Lasso” would have offered them USD 20 to display these pamphlets. According to this person, he has been carrying out this action since last week from 08:00 to 14:00.

The candidate for the Presidency for the UNES movement, Andrés Arauz, also spoke about what happened and through his social networks expressed:

«I have seen with amazement and indignation how Mr. Lasso’s campaign tries to use poverty and begging, boys and girls, for electoral purposes. This is miserable and should not be tolerated.

Before the accusations, the son of the candidate for CREO-PSC, Guillermo Enrique Lasso, explained, through his Twitter account, that these posters “do not belong” to the campaign of his father.

“If it’s someone who wants to help, that’s not the way, it’s not right,” he said.

However, Guillermo Lasso, who has been singled out for promoting a “dirty” campaign against his opponent for the ballot, has not commented on the matter.
