People hospitalized for complications from COVID-19 are increasing every day. The average in recent weeks has been more than 1.400 daily hospitalizations, between stable and serious.
This Monday, March 22, 2021, there are 952 stable hospitalized patients and 513 with a reserved prognosis, adding 1.465 patients in one day. While 72 more people were discharged from hospital.
The Intensive Care Units (ICU) work at their maximum capacity and some emergency rooms had to be, again, exclusive areas for the admission of people with COVID-19.
Positivity in the country increased in some provinces. In Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas it rose to 51%, compared to 47% the previous week. Manabí went from 44% to 51% these days. Los Ríos had 29% and now has 49% positivity. Guayas also rose from 27% to 32% and Pichincha rose from 18% to 23%.
According to the latest report, this Monday there were 253 new infections and 27 more deaths in the last 24 hours. The country has a total of 312.851 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 16.478 deaths: 11.664 died from the virus and 4.814 suspected of carrying the respiratory virus.
In the last week, 8.683 more people overcame the disease, adding 271.847 patients recovered nationwide, representing 86.96% of those infected.
