The National Electoral Council (CNE) confirms that the candidates Andrés Arauz (Unes) and Guillermo Lasso (Creo-PSC) will compete in the presidential elections on April 11. In the same way, the CNE confirmed the electoral calendar.
The electoral campaign will be between March 16 and April 8, 2021. On April 8, voting will begin with the suffrage of persons deprived of liberty. A day later the vote will take place at home.
The second round elections will be held on April 11, 2021, in an urgent manner, according to the CNE.
Finally, the inauguration of the new National Assembly will take place on May 14, the Andean parliamentarians will take office on May 24, and the new president on May 24.
For his part, the member of the CNE, José Cabrera, assured that for the meeting between Arauz and Lasso a board will also be formed that will be in charge of the guidelines of the debate.
“We do not know if they will be the same members or new ones will be chosen. We are also analyzing the issue of moderators. We are already working on the different issues that are part of the April 11 process ”.
