Prosecutor of Colombia traveled to Ecuador to meet with the Prosecutor of Ecuador

The official will deliver a report on the investigation that was carried out to the computers of alias Uriel, of the ELN.

The Attorney General of Colombia, Francisco Barbosa, traveled to Ecuador to meet with the Attorney General of Ecuador, Diana Salazar Méndez. The objective of this trip would be to deliver a report on the findings of the researchers and experts to the technological teams of Andrés Felipe Vanegas Londoño, alias Uriel of the ELN.

According to Semana magazine, this group would have given USD 80.000 to Andrés Arauz’s presidential campaign. This information was denied by former President Correa, in an interview conducted by the same medium.

In addition, the ex-president indicated that, on the dates that the alleged campaign contribution was made, Arauz’s candidacy in Ecuador had not yet been qualified, and several political groups even tried to ban him.

Semana magazine also asserted that a police delegation will travel with the Attorney General, which will explain the process of how the information was obtained technically.

This trip would take place within the framework of a judicial cooperation operation between the two countries and, after receiving a letter from the prosecutor Diana Salazar, in which she officially requested the information obtained from Uriel’s computers.

It should be remembered that Francisco Barbosa has a close relationship with the President of Colombia, Iván Duque, and even served in his Cabinet as presidential advisor for human rights and international affairs. In addition, the official has received strong criticism in the country for allegedly masking the number of murders of social leaders. He claimed that they had decreased, but reports from various experts showed otherwise.
