The Development and Peace Foundation (Fundepaz) of Colombia reported this Monday in its official account of the social network Twitter the statements of the Minister of Defense, Diego Molano, in which he confirmed the discovery of 11 bodies as a balance of four violent events that occurred the end week in the municipality of Tumaco, department of Nariño

“What happened over the weekend in Tumaco, Nariño, corresponds to four different homicides that are allegedly related to the attempt to control the territory of Organized Armed Groups ‘Contadores’ and ‘Oliver Sinisterra'”, said the minister during a conference of press held after a meeting, in which the massacre of Sunday, February 21, was analyzed.

The Ministry of Defense, the High Command of the Military Forces and the departmental authorities in Tumaco, held an Extraordinary Security Council because of the massacre on Sunday, as a result of a confrontation between violent groups for the control of drug trafficking routes.

“Last Saturday, two dead bodies were found in the Caunapi district, this fact already has criminal news. Likewise, a lifeless body was found in the village of Villarica (…) On Sunday, February 21, three bodies were found in the village of Llorente, while in the village of Puerto Rico there are five lifeless bodies, which are not the authorities could carry out the urgent acts ”, explained the minister when recounting the events.

For his part, the Secretary of the Government of Nariño, Francisco Cerón, “forcefully rejected the facts” and attributed them to “the dispute over the territories and the income produced by the illicit economies.” In addition, he affirmed that the competent actions are being carried out.
