Peru reports the first cases of the Brazilian strain

The areas most affected by this new variant are: Loreto, Huánuco and some parts of Lima.

This Thursday, February 4, 2021, the Minister of Health of Peru, Pilar Mazzetti, confirmed that the first cases of the Brazilian variant of Covid-19 were detected in the country.

The Peruvian authorities confirmed that the regions where these Covid-19 cases were found are: Loreto, Huánuco and some parts of Lima, in addition, it was confirmed that the two strains, the Brazilian and the British, circulate in the country.

Mazzetti had to report to the Peruvian Congress, which asked him for all the relevant information on the measures being taken to stop the pandemic and also to explain what the vaccination process will be.

Peru and Brazil suspended international flights since last January 26, 2021, while the Peruvian areas with the highest infections will have to respect a mandatory quarantine.
