Ecuador registers 2.073 new infections and 14 more deaths in the last 24 hours. This Friday, February 5, 2021, the country has a total of 255.412 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 14.982 deaths due to the pandemic.
According to the latest bulletin from the Ministry of Health, 10.290 people died with a positive diagnosis and 4.692 died with suspicion of carrying the respiratory virus.
This Friday, the country remains high in terms of hospital occupancy. There are 818 stable hospitalized patients and 489 with a reserved prognosis. In total, there are 1.307 interned in one day. While 136 more people were discharged from hospital.
For the first time, there are fewer than 500 seriously ill patients, after nine consecutive days of up to 529 hospitalizations, the highest peak of hospitalized patients with a reserved prognosis since the pandemic began.
The country reports 209.814 recovered patients, which represents 83.65% of the total infected. In the last week of January 5.743 more people recovered from the disease.
Pichincha has 820 new infections and three more deaths. The province, which registers two cases of the British variant of COVID-19, has a total of 89.131 diagnosed with the virus and 2.434 deaths. Quito adds 772 more infected and the total number of cases in the Ecuadorian capital rises to 82.257.
