The national Emergency Operations Committee (COE) issued new resolutions, in which they detail that all authorizations for the pilot plans for the return to face-to-face classes in schools, colleges and universities are temporarily suspended.
In the resolution of this Thursday, January 14, 2021, the authorities indicated that the validity of the telework modality in the institutions of the Executive Function and deconcentrated is extended until February 9.
In addition, the 204 public schools and the 79 institutions previously authorized by the National COE to start their pilot plans to return to face-to-face classes will not be able to do so until February 9, due to the increase in infections and hospital occupancy.
Similarly, the 12 higher education institutions will have to wait until the COE authorizes the start of the pilot plans, meanwhile virtual education continues. They also explain that teachers cannot yet return to the facilities of each educational unit or university.
Changing these measures will depend on the epidemiological situation and the country’s hospital capacity.
This Thursday, January 14, the country registered a new rebound in daily infections. In the last 24 hours there were 1.687 infected and 17 more deaths. Adding a total of 226.002 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 14.246 deaths due to this pandemic.
Hospital occupation continues to increase in several provinces of the country. Nationwide, there are 654 stable hospitalized patients. While patients with a reserved prognosis increase to 462, a number that the country had not registered since the start of the pandemic. In total, there are 1.116 interned in one day. While another 70 people were discharged from hospital.
The national COE also rejected the request for the public to attend the “Yellow Night” and clarifies that the prohibition of massive public events remains in force.
