The president of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Diana Atamaint, reacted to the questioning of an official who resigned because she would have received a phone call to supposedly sign a communication services contract directly.
In a blunt way, Atamaint said that the hiring processes for the elections are transparent.
She explained that this case focuses on the contracting process for the logistics of a debate, for which the Council had a referential budget of USD336.000.
She said that the process was opened twice, but that they were declared void because they were not in the national interest.
She said that there is currently a new award process to a company that will facilitate all logistics with favorable conditions so that there is no doubt that the economic and technical conditions adjusted to the decisions of the institution were taken into account.
She added that the current offer is 43% less in relation to others in the market.
The resignation of Carmen Idrovo Rodríguez, who assumed the National Directorate of Political Analysis and Electoral Dissemination in the Council, questioning the process occurs when on Friday and Saturday the presidential debate organized by the CNE will take place in which 16 candidates will participate.
The official left her post last Saturday due to problems in hiring for the dissemination of the debates and for not coinciding with the provisions issued by Atamaint.
