India: Bird flu outbreak confirmed in 10 states

The state of Haryana is the most affected, because 400.000 birds have been killed by the virus.

This Monday, January 11, 2021, the Indian health authorities confirmed outbreaks of bird flu in 10 states of the country. The government has put in place new restrictive measures to contain the spread of the virus in humans.

Bird flu has affected 10 out of 36 states in India, the sudden death of wild and poultry birds alerted all citizens and forced the government to implement new restriction measures.

The state of Haryana is the most affected by this virus, with more than 400,000 dead birds. Local authorities have started the slaughter of these animals, to prevent further infections and also an outbreak in humans.

Controls have increased in water sources, live bird markets, zoos and poultry farms, the priority is to avoid an outbreak in humans. The authorities reminded the public that contagions can be avoided with good food cooking and good hygiene.
