Ecuador registers 1.874 new infections and 89 more deaths in the last 24 hours. This Thursday, January 21, 2021, the country has a total of 236.189 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 14.526 deaths due to the pandemic.
According to the report of the Ministry of Health, 9.883 people died with a positive diagnosis and 4.643 died with suspicion of carrying the virus.
In the country there is an increase in hospital occupancy and many sentinel hospitals, which exclusively treat patients with coronavirus, are at the limit of their capacity. This Thursday there are 721 stable hospitalized and 489 with a reserved prognosis. In total, there are 1.210 interned in one day. While 125 more people were discharged from hospital.
Regarding the number of recovered patients, the country reports 199.332, which represents 86.11% of the total infected. This indicator is updated every Sunday. In the last week, from January 11-17, there were 5.751 more people who recovered from the disease.
Pichincha registers 693 more infected and nine deaths in one day. The province reports 82.718 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 2.391 deaths from the pandemic. Quito adds 621 more infected and the total number of diagnosed in the Ecuadorian capital rises to 76.331.
