Paola Pabón, Prefect of Pichincha, tested positive for COVID-19

The Prefect of Pichincha, Paola Pabón, announced that she tested positive for COVID-19. She called on citizens to take care of their health during the December festivities.

“A few days ago I had the symptoms and today I tested positive for covid19,” she published on her Twitter account, this Wednesday, December 16.

“It is everyone’s responsibility to avoid contagion and protect the health of our people. If we do not take care of life above all else, no economic reactivation will be possible ”, added the prefect.

Pabón joins a list of officials who have been infected with the new coronavirus. According to the Pichincha Prefecture, the contagion would have occurred “due to permanent work in the territory.” In addition, they reported that their health situation is stable.

This Wednesday, December 16, the Ministry of Health registers 1.105 new cases of coronavirus in the country. The latest report reveals the existence of 203.461 confirmed cases. In Pichincha, there are 72.676 infected.
