CNE approves protocol for electoral campaign

The Plenary of the National Electoral Council (CNE) approved the COVID-19 prevention protocol, for the 2021 electoral campaign, which regulates how political organizations must carry out tours in the country.

This prevention plan was developed together with the World Health Organization (WHO) and provides that during the campaign period, which begins on December 31, only two face-to-face events such as caravans and walks will be allowed.

The electoral body established the mandatory use of masks by candidates and supporters. In addition, during these events a minimum distance of 2 meters must be maintained between each person.

The regulations provide that attendees must carry 70% alcohol gel. Likewise, the number of people for walks and vehicles for caravans will be limited.

The approved protocol is of mandatory application throughout the country during the electoral campaign that will begin on December 31 and will end on February 4, 2021. In the event that unplanned electoral activities are organized, political organizations will be sanctioned according to the regulations of health.
