This Friday, December 18, 2020, China confirmed that it hopes to vaccinate 50 million of its high-priority inhabitants, for the Lunar New Year holidays, which arrive from February 12.
The Chinese government plans to contain an outbreak of Covid-19 on the dates of greatest internal migration in the country. These 50 million people are still a small step for the Asian giant, taking into account that it barely represents 3.5% of a population of 1.400 billion people.
Several media outlets hope that the vaccination campaigns will begin soon, therefore, a tentative start date would be January 15, when the first doses should be ready in the country.
The Chinese authorities have confirmed that the virus is already controlled in the country, therefore, it is necessary to vaccinate people so as not to lose that control against Covid-19. Health workers and various government representatives have had several meetings to clarify everything about the handling of the drug developed by Sinopharm.
China expects to have 600 million inactivated doses of Covid-19 vaccine by the end of 2021.
