Google receives antitrust lawsuit from US

The company would control search engines on 80% of computers globally and 90% on cell phones.

38 US territories, led by Nebraska and Colorado, decided to sue Google for illegal anti-competitive practices. This is the third complaint that the internet giant receives for these characteristics, in less than two months.

The states believe that Google “illegally” holds a monopoly power over all search engines on the internet and also over the advertising markets. Several authorities believe that the control of the company is hurting consumers and advertisers.

According to various reports, Google would be controlling 80% of searches on computers worldwide and 90% on all cell phones, therefore, the company would be making use of this domain to help its products.

For its part, Google announced that it will defend itself in court, while its shares fell about 1% after the lawsuit was made official.

The situation does not seem to favor Google, because, according to several plaintiffs, the company would also have reached an “illegal” agreement with Facebook to prevent any other company from competing with the social network.
