Ministry of Economy and Finance paid USD 116 million to ISSFA

On the afternoon of this Monday, December 28, 2020, the Ministry of Economy and Finance reported that it made the payment of USD 116 million to the Institute of Social Security of the Armed Forces (ISSFA), “to leverage the entity’s liquidity and close several pending”

The payment occurs days after the International Monetary Fund (IMF) transferred USD 2 billion corresponding to the second disbursement of the Extended Facility Program that the Government signed last September.

Despite the difficult situation of public finances, due to the incidence of the Covid-19 pandemic in the fall in tax and oil revenues of the General State Budget, the Ministry has advanced monthly with transfers to the Issfa, he said in a communicated the State portfolio.

Throughout this year, USD 720.8 million has been paid to this institution for items related to allowances for the payment of pensioners, state pensions, transfers for vulnerable heroes, heroes and heroines, as well as contributions.

There are pending items that will be fulfilled according to the availability and planning of the fiscal box, concluded the statement from the Ministry of Finance.
