At least 235 million people will need some kind of assistance during the next year.
This Tuesday, December 1, 2020, the United Nations (UN) reported that USD35.000 million in humanitarian aid will be needed, for all the people who reached poverty due to the global Covid-19 pandemic.
The UN confirmed that at least 235 million people around the world will need some type of emergency assistance during 2021. This figure represents an increase of 40% in reference to previous years.
Mark Lowcock, UN emergency aid coordinator, commented that this increase and the delicate world situation is a “direct consequence” of Covid-19. He also commented that in 2021, 1 in 33 people will need help.
On the other hand, from the UN they warn that the coronavirus came to complicate much more for people who live in the worst conditions every day. The money needed by 2021 will help more than 160 million people in 57 countries.
